Top tips for visiting Vegas casinos for the first time
When visiting Las Vegas for the first time, there are some important things you need to know to ensure you get the most out of the experience. From where to find the casino games you want, to how to stay safe – here is the ultimate guide to visiting Las Vegas…
Most iconic casinos
There’s no doubt you’ve seen or heard of some of the iconic casinos that make up the Las Vegas Strip. If you’re an Elvis Presley fan, The International is one you’re bound to want to visit. You could visit the Bellagio Fountains, as seen in plenty of Hollywood movies.
How about a gondola ride through the Venetian? Or famous mobster Bugsy Siegel’s first haunt – Flamingo? There’s Caesars Palace, if you want to feel like royalty, or the Luxor for an Egyptian-themed gaming experience.
The list goes on… So where will you be visiting first?
European Roulette
If you’re a fan of Roulette, you’ll likely want to find the gaming table with the best odds. We all know that European Roulette has a lower house edge than American Roulette, but can be hard to find in Las Vegas… unless you know where to go.
The single-zero Roulette table with the lowest minimum bet on the Strip is at MGM Grand, where you’ll need to wager at least $25 to play. However, during peak hours, this could increase to $100.
Mandalay Bay has a European Roulette table, where you can join in for a minimum bet of $50.
For a $100 minimum, you could play at Aria, Bellagio and Mirage. At Wynn and Encore, you can find European Roulette tables in the high-limit sections.
The Cromwell and Caesars Palace do offer single zero Roulette tables, but they don’t include European rules.
Ultimately, it all depends on whether you want to place a higher minimum bet for a game with a lower house edge, or not. Or, you could seek out the Blackjack, Poker, or Baccarat tables!
Staying safe
Whatever you decide to play, there are some things you should bear in mind when visiting Las Vegas – whether it’s your first time or not. In order to stay safe and make the most out of your experience, you should:
- Wear a watch
Many casinos won’t have clocks inside, or even windows for you to see outside. You might also find there are rules in place which prevent you from using your phone in certain gaming areas. In order to keep track of time, wearing a watch is recommended.
- Set a bankroll
Another important thing to remember, whether you’re playing at a land-based venue or online, is to set a bankroll. This should be the amount of money you’re not afraid to lose – as a win is never guaranteed.
- Brush up on your gaming knowledge
To make the most out of your Las Vegas experience, you should brush up on your gaming knowledge, so you feel confident in the games you’re trying your chances on. Whilst the casino staff and dealers are always happy to help, you will no doubt feel more confident if you’ve tried free demo versions of the games online, or researched into the rules!
- Be considerate
It goes without saying that you should always be considerate, particularly to other players and the casino staff. Casino games are all chance based, so it’s no one’s fault if you win or lose. Remember to remain kind to those around you, and remember casino etiquette as you play.
Now you know some of our top tips for visiting Las Vegas, do you think you’ll be booking a flight anytime soon? Or, will you stick to playing online to brush up on your knowledge for the future?
