How to get a FREE boiler in the UK
Homeowners and tenants in private rented property in the UK who claim one or more of the benefits listed below could be entitled to a free boiler replacement grant under the government’s ECO3 scheme. The grant for a free boiler is provided by the six main energy suppliers Scottish Power, EON, British Gas, SSE, EDF, and nPower. If you don’t qualify for a free boiler grant you could still be eligible for a subsidised boiler or a discount off a new boiler installation, so it is always worth checking by entering your postcode. It’s quick and easy and could save you a significant amount of money on your next boiler.
To qualify for the government ECO3 scheme you must be a homeowner (or private tenant) and your boiler must be at least seven years old, as it is seen to be more worthwhile to repair a newer boiler instead of completely replacing it. Also, you need to be receiving one or more of these benefits:
- Income related Employment Support Allowance
- Income support
- Child tax credit
- Income based Job Seekers Allowance
- Working tax credit
- Pension guaranteed credit
- Universal credit
- Disability living allowance
- Personal independence payment
- Carer’s allowance
- Attendance allowance
- Severe disablement allowance
- Industrial injuries disablement benefits
- Ministry of justice benefits
- War pensions mobility supplement
- Constant attendance allowance
- Child benefit
- Armed forces independence payment
The ECO3 scheme was introduced to help provide eligible UK occupants with efficient and affordable heating. Research has revealed that boilers that are older than seven years will only function at about 65% of their full efficiency. Therefore, as much as 35p of every pound you spend on heating costs is being wasted which might not seem like a lot, but it quickly adds up when you have your heating on a lot in the winter. By contrast when you have your new A-rated boiler installed it will run at a minimum of 90% so you would only lose at most 10p per pound.
As the UK is in a turbulent economic time it can be a big worry for older people in particular living on a pension keeping their home warm throughout the year. A free boiler for pensioners will make a significant difference as the cost of a replacement boiler can range from £2,000 to £5,000 including the price of the boiler itself it is a lot of money.
At Free Boiler Grants we help guide you through the process and organise your grants as well as providing boiler replacements and have supplied thousands of homes and occupants including single parents and pensioners with free boilers. This has helped them lower the cost of their heating bills and reduce their carbon footprint. Find out more about how we can help you get a free boiler replacement today.
