When you run and own a business, you need to remember that your customers are an essential part of that business. Without them, you would not make any money, and no matter what your future plans might be, they would not come to fruition. This is why businesses need to take care of their customers and a good way to do this is to increase engagement. In this way, you can create long-term and long-lasting relationships with them, ensuring they return to you and also recommend you to others. With this in mind, here are some ways you can fully engage your customers and ensure they stay loyal to your business.

Personalise the Customer Experience

Personalisation is one of the most powerful tools you have when it comes to increasing engagement with your customers. You’ll know the feeling yourself; when you go to a shop or buy something online, you want to feel as though your purchase counts. You’ll want to feel as though you’re more than just a sale. This feeling is often because of the amount of time you’ve spent thinking about what to buy and, crucially, where to buy it from. You’ve invested time (and eventually money) into the purchase, so you want to be acknowledged.

Your customers will feel the same, and by personalising the experience as much as possible, you can give them what they want. Personalisation could be as simple as using the customer’s name in a thank you email or recommending products to them based on their previous purchase history – this can be enough to make them feel much more engaged.

Think about Your Packaging

Packaging can be a good way to engage with your customers more, and since it’s something you’re going to need to consider anyway (if you have a physical product, at least), it’s a good idea to use it in the right way.

Packaging should be visually appealing, and it must have your details on it for brand recognition. However, it must also be functional, and it needs to create a great first impression for anyone seeing it. If the packaging you choose is hard to get into and looks bad, that won’t make people want to return to your business – it might put them off entirely. Take a look at Orbital Packaging to see examples of the right packaging to use to engage your customers.

Use Social Media

Whatever you think of social media on a personal level, you need to understand that this is where a lot of – perhaps the majority of – your customers will spend some of their time, perhaps a lot of their time. Therefore, if your business has a presence on social media, you’ll be able to easily engage with your customers and, of course, your potential customers.

Do some market research to determine where your target market spends time when they’re online and make a profile for your business on the most popular social media site. Post regularly, and always try to respond to people who comment on your posts. Make competitions and offer discounts. This kind of engagement can quickly grow and put you in front of many more people, so it’s well worth investigating further.
