While we traditionally send our partners cards, flowers, and gifts, on Valentine’s Day, this year we want to celebrate another type of love. We’re talking about puppy love.

To celebrate this bond and show our loyal companions some love this Valentine’s Day, our jewellery experts at Steven Stone have revealed just how much we love our pets, not to mention designed a selection of gifts to show them some love.

Creative Director, Maxwell Stone, said: “In the last 12 months we’ve had a growing number of enquiries for personalised jewellery that represents the love we have for our pets.

“To amplify this trend, we wanted to create a unique collection of matching pendants, either to give as a gift to your partner and their pet, or to mark your own love for your special furry friend.”

We surveyed 1,000 pet owners to reveal how strong their bond is, and more importantly, if they give better cuddles than our partners...

From our survey, on average, around 1 in 16  admitted to having a stronger bond with their pets than their partners, with 1 in 12 dog owners feeling more affection for their pooches. However, 53.00% said all is equal, and they love their partner just as much.

What about Valentine’s Day?

While our partner normally gets all the gifts of Valentine’s Day, this year around 1 in 8 of us are splashing out on a present for their pets, with a quarter of dog owners admitting they won’t leave their pups out. However, despite this, 65.35% said they will still be spending more money on their partner.

Alongside this, 1 in 8 confessed they would rather spend Valentine’s Day cuddled up with their pets, with dog owners leading the way, followed by cat owners

.When it comes to cuddles it seems our furry friends take the lead, with 1 in 3 saying they prefer to cuddle their pets over their partner.

Saying “I do”

When it comes to weddings, a quarter want their pets to attend their weddings, with 1 in 3 dog owners saying it is vital that their pooches attend the big day.

In the UK Bristol weddings are most likely to involve our furry friends (40.48%), followed by Newcastle (38.89%), and Belfast (31.43%).
