How Crucial is SEO to the Performance of Your Website?

Some managers feel that as long they have a colourful and informative website about their brand, the site has served its purpose. They don’t consider that an SEO team can turn the website into an effective marketing tool.

The managers simply look at it as a static billboard singing the brand’s praises instead of making it the dynamic foundation of the brand’s marketing strategy.

The Necessity of SEO in Digital Marketing

If your brand is new to the marketplace, chances are that you have hired a website developer to create a site for your brand. The site lists all your products and services, tells a bit about who the people behind the brand are, gives contact details, and explains the brand's message and philosophy.

When you launched your website, it was a new entity on the internet, and you might have enjoyed seeing it on the front page among your competitors in your industry. But if you want to maintain that initial ranking, you have to partner with an SEO agency for help.

The internet is a dynamic place where everything is relative. Rankings can rise and fall amongst brands in the same industry as they create campaigns that drive additional user traffic to their websites. People also enter keywords that are contained in the site content of some of these competitors, giving them a boost in the rankings.

The purpose of an SEO agency is to simply fight the dynamic nature of the internet and continually try to level the playing field or tilt it in favour of their clients.

Getting Your Website in Shape for Marketing

Unless you specifically asked for certain marketing platforms to be added to your website when it was first set up, it’s probably not optimized for marketing activities. Even if it was, the dynamics of the internet mean that it’s certainly not currently.

The point of SEO is to continually keep optimizing your website to compete with the brands that matter in the marketplace. But first, it has to be able to support the marketing activities you have planned for it. Like a race car being prepared for the race course, your site has to be fine-tuned to handle the platforms and activities you have planned for it. This is the initial job of an SEO agency.

They comb through the site looking for errors in coding, broken links, malware, and slow loading speeds that could affect your brand’s ability to market effectively and handle the transactions and ecommerce activities that are crucial to your brand’s business.

This programme of ongoing maintenance may not be as exciting and creative as the other aspects of digital marketing. Still, without SEO, digital marketing as we know it would cease to exist.
