Feast Your Eyes and Taste Buds with These Tasty International Dishes
Who can turn down a good meal? Well, those that are on cleaning duty surely but that’s not the point. Sometimes, we all love to eat out, forget about washing the dishes, and take a bite of something so new and so fresh our day becomes one to remember.
But more often than not, when you are hungry, you are stumped for ideas. And that’s why we are here. We will share a few ideas and whatever gets your tummy rumbling, that’s the one you should go for.
Sri Lankan Food
If you want something fresh and creamy, Sri Lankan food will hit the spot. You can try the fluffy pancakes called hoppers (Appa) made out of fermented rice flour and coconut milk. You can enjoy them with just an egg on the side or sambal (a spicy condiment) and curry for an extra spicy kick.
Or if you want to enjoy something hearty, you can go for the stable street food of Sri Lanka - Kottu Roti. It is hands down the perfect mix of veggies, meat (most places will ask you which kind you prefer), eggs, and of course, let’s not forget the ingredient that makes this dish come together—the Roti.
The roti is a flatbread to die for. And all of this is topped with curry sauce.
Or if you really want to feel what Sri Lankan cuisine is all about, don’t miss out on a nice creamy Pol Sambol dish. It is prepared with coconut, red onion, dried chilies, lime juice, and fish.
With these fine meals, you should consider washing it all down with a nice cocktail. Sri Lankans are known for their tasty cocktails. If you want to enjoy such an experience, you won’t have to look far for a good Sri Lankan restaurant in the UK as this cuisine is becoming more popular by the day.
Indian Food
It’s quite hard to find a Brit whose stomach (and heart) hasn’t been captured by a good Chicken Tikka Masala dish. But that’s not the only thing that makes this cuisine so special and beloved all across the world and not just here in the UK.
Murgh Makhani is another dish that will have you licking your finger in delight. And let’s not forget the Samosas. Crispy on the outside, filled with delicious meat and mint chutney.
And while Indian cuisine is known for all the meaty dishes, there is also something spectacularly good for vegetarians. Paneer Butter Masala is a creamy and mildly spicy dish (thanks to the curry) made with cottage cheese and served with tomato-based gravy and butter.
Greek Food
Let’s be honest, we’d all love to be in Greece, soaking up the sun right now but if that is not in the cards, why not just enjoy the most Greek thing in the world - a greek salad?
That’s right not only do you feel like you are in Greece staring at the sea, but you also have something refreshing to eat. And let’s not forget, a Greek salad is not complete without a glass of Ouzo, a spirit that can cool you off even on the most scorching days.
And if you just can't part with meat-based dishes, don’t worry. London is filled with Greek restaurants that will serve you an authentic and delicious Gyro.
Something From Home
While we all love foreign cuisines, we all go back to our favourite Fish and Chips shop for the crispiness of the fish and the vinegar fries. Now whether you prefer cod or haddoc it’s all up to you, but if you have the munchies for something that will take you back and fill you without draining your wallet, this is the right thing for you.
Or if you are passing by a nice pastry shop, a Sausage Roll to go can hit the spot much better than a Beef Wellington. If you want to feel like you are back at your grandma's, Roast Beef and Yorkshire Pudding will not just satisfy your tastebuds but also make your week.
Wrap-Up
Don’t worry, we all get lazy sometimes and cooking can be quite the chore. But thankfully, you can find tasty food as soon as you leave the front door. Or you can always order from your phone. Now that’s it from us. Bon Appetit.
