Art makes the world interesting by enabling people to visualize their creative sides or view fascinating artwork developed by other creative individuals. Artists are creative people with a passion and knack for drawing, sketching, painting, and illustration while transcribing events, situations, places, and personalities on paper or canvas. Many people think art is simple and that anyone can draw or paint without talent or training. However, art entails creativity, talent, expertise, education, and experience. Some talented artists do not require any training due to their expertise and creativity. Many famous artists like Vincent van Gogh, Henry Darger, and Frida Kahlo did not receive training because they were naturally talented and passionate about art. However, talent alone is not typically enough because it requires dedication, passion, hard work, and commitment.

Painting and art are all about creativity and imagination because artists have to convey and portray their imagination on canvas or paper to create fascinating art pieces. Thousands of people draw or paint as a hobby but cannot maximize their potential or make an impact through their art because of a lack of consistency and dedication. Being an artist or painter is not just about putting brush to canvas because it involves talent and passion rather than just pursuing a hobby. A passion for drawing or painting is also not enough to become an accomplished artist because the artist needs to transform the passion into action. The most passionate and dedicated artists are obsessed with art and draw or paint whenever possible. Kenneth Burres is among the passionate artists who draw and doodle whenever possible due to an obsession with art.

Kenneth Burres is an eleven-year-old multitalented artist and illustrator obsessed with doodling and making drawings and doodles any time he can, regardless of the situation. He is a multitalented kid with a knack for fencing, swimming, and karate, apart from being a passionate doodler and artist. Burres is a sixth grader in the School for Advanced Studies (SAS) in Los Angeles, CA, and is ahead of his age in school. He speaks Spanish and German fluently while pursuing his artistic passion by writing and illustrating books. Burres started doodling at a young age and doodles everywhere and anywhere when the artist gets an opportunity. He expresses his imagination and creativity through the characters and designs in his doodles, which typically depict personalities, situations, and events. The doodler is also an avid history fan and developed a significant interest in history after studying American and world history in online classes during middle and high school.

Interest in history and art compelled Kenneth Burres to compile and publish World War II – As Seen by a Young Artist and Historian. The book portrays the prominent events and personalities of WWII with unique illustrations. The illustrated book helps readers, especially children, understand and learn about WWII and its history in a fun way. Typical history books and movies portray WWII exhaustively, and readers quickly get bored and switch to reading something else. However, Burres’ book comprises illustrations and doodles with a funny twist and captions that fascinate readers and compel them to continue reading. The author uses his doodling talent to spread knowledge and awareness about WWII and significant events that may otherwise be obscure to many people. The colorful images emphasizing small details help readers understand the circumstances and prominent elements. Burres also utilizes black and white rather than vivid colors to portray notable personalities and leaders of WWII to contrast with the colorful doodles.

World War II – As Seen by a Young Artist and Historian is not an ordinary history or art book because it integrates unique elements from both disciplines. The book offers a message to readers by depicting history through doodles, illustrations, and cartoons rather than monotonous text. The humorous captions accompanying individual illustrations also enhance the book’s readability and readers’ comprehension. From an artistic perspective, Kenneth Burres uses doodles, caricatures, cartoons, and images rather than intricate paintings to showcase his creative side. The book has 28 individual sections, each portraying a particular event from WWII. Some prominent sections include the Mushroom Cloud, Rise of Japan, Treaty with Stalin, Churchill and the Bombing, Hitler Squeezed, Jesse Owens Gold Rush, Pearl Harbor, and Hitler Connects the Dots. Children and adolescents should learn about WWII and various events during the war because it is among the most prominent events in history. Kenneth Burres follows his passion and utilizes his talent to depict the events and spread knowledge about WWII through his book’s illustrations.
