Astrologer Shares the Best Nursery Décor Style for Your Baby's Star Sign
When it comes to decorating your baby’s nursery, you may be stuck where to begin - bright and bold colours or neutral and calming tones?
There’s plenty of inspiration around, but baby and nursery retailer Kiddies Kingdom have teamed up with expert astrologer Debbie Frank to determine the nursery décor style you should pick, based on your baby’s star sign.
Aries (March 21st – April 19th) – Bold Prints
Aries are known for their bold and fiery personalities, so why not bring some statement prints into your nursery décor. Debbie says “the fire sign Aries has a lot of natural enthusiasm and energy and would enjoy the stimulation of bold prints in a nursery.”
If it feels too daunting to wallpaper the whole room, try a bold feature wall instead, creating a centrepiece behind the crib.
Taurus (April 20th – May 20th) – Natural Materials
Using natural materials in your nursery design is perfect for a Taurus baby. Debbie explains that “Taurus is an earth sign and loves texture, so a nursery decorated in natural fibres and fabrics would be soothing and appealing.”
Focus on using warm wooden furniture throughout your nursery, with a natural wooden crib making an ideal centrepiece.
Gemini (May 21st – June 20th) - Rainbow
Rainbow-coloured nursery décor doesn’t have to be too bright, subtle rainbow colours are also an option. Debbie says that “Geminis loves as much stimulation as possible so a myriad of rainbow colours would delight and amuse their curious nature.”
Incorporate rainbow colours subtly into your décor by framing a rainbow print to hang on the wall or using a rainbow-patterned rug.
Cancer (June 21st – July 22nd) – Under the Sea
Debbie explains that “the water sign of Cancer loves to be around water, so a nursery decorated with water symbols and motifs is perfect for this baby.”
If you’re feeling creative, try painting an under the sea themed mural onto one of your larger, wooden furniture pieces or perhaps use decals for an easy and removable option.
Leo (July 23rd – August 22nd) – Honeybee
With connotations of life and friendliness the Honeybee is a fun alternative to the classic ‘Leo lion’. Debbie says “as a fire sign, Leo’s enjoy bright colours, particularly the yellow theme, conjuring up the summer period of their birth sign.”
For the perfect Honeybee nursery, add a bee-shaped rug to the room along with lots of splashes of yellow with cushions or toys.
Virgo (August 23rd – September 22nd) - Green
Green is often associated with calmness and tranquillity and Debbie believes that “this earthy colour is very well suited to the earth sign Virgo, who enjoys the soothing energy of all things to do with nature.”
To create the perfect green nursery, add soft furnishings such as cushions, blankets and curtains in different green tones.
Libra (September 23rd – October 22nd) – Pastel
Pastel colours are soothing and ideal for a nursery and Debbie says that they “are a winner for Libra’s who dislike anything too bright or clashing. These calming tones suit the Libran style.”
Lots of baby furniture is available in pastel colours from pinks, greens and blues so pair them up with neutrals for a calming aesthetic.
Scorpio (October 23rd – November 21st) – Black Accents
Black accents can create contrast and dimension in any room and Debbie comments that “Scorpio’s enjoy the intensity of black and white. This sign has a very deep nature and likes the stimulation of dramatic design.”
Create a classy look by adding hints of black within the photo frames, door handles and accessories such as mobiles or cushions.
Sagittarius (November 22nd – December 21st) - Jungle
Jungle-themed nurseries are fun and playful and Debbie says that “Sagittarius’ adore the adventure of a jungle theme and wild animals. They have a playful nature and adore having fun and this nursery style is perfectly suited to the archer sign.”
Experiment with different animal prints and bright colours in wallpapers, cushions or curtains.
Capricorn (December 22nd – January 19th) – Woodland
Lovable woodland creatures make the best companions for your little one and Debbie shares that “this sign enjoys all the natural elements of a woodland, and being an earth sign, the earthy colours and animal theme is a Capricorn baby’s heaven.”
Beiges and browns are the perfect tonal colours for a woodland bedroom, with animal soft toys and books as finishing touches.
Aquarius (January 20th – February 18th) - Modern
Debbie explains that “Aquarians are the innovators of the zodiac and appreciate a modern style that isn’t cluttered with vintage objects.”
Go for a painted white crib paired with matching white wardrobes and changing table to achieve the ultra-modern look.
Pisces (February 19th – March 20th) – Ethereal
Debbie says that “dreamy decoration is perfect for water sign as Pisces babies are so in touch with the magic of universal energy. Pisceans are attuned to angels and would experience an angel theme as very comforting.”
For an ethereal-themed nursery, try adding a moon-shaped shelf to your wall, with soft cloud like cushions and pale dreamy colours on the walls.
