Hoping to find yourself some Christmas treats? Slip away from the hustle and bustle of a town centre to one of these Christmas markets in special places cared for by the National Trust and shop safe in the knowledge that every penny you spend is helping to care for them. Plus there’s a chance for wintry walks and a festive treats in the cafés.

Devon

Arlington Court Christmas fair

Saturday 16 - Sunday 17 November, 11am-4pm

Start your Christmas shopping early at this festive fair in North Devon. Over 50 local stall holders will be selling everything from jams to jewellery, textile items, home furnishings, scarves, quilts, toys, cards, decorations, wood work and more.

Price: free entry for National Trust members and under 5s. Non-member entry £5, including access to house, Carriage Museum and garden

Knightshayes Christmas craft and gift fair

Friday 15, Saturday 16 & Sunday 17 November, 10am-4pm

All handmade, all local and all you need this festive season. The popular craft ad gift fair showcases the best local, artisan craftspeople and producers. There are over 50 stalls selling handmade soaps and jewellery, prints, chocolate and much more; ideal for finding unique Christmas gifts.

A taste of Christmas fair at Knightshayes

Saturday 23 - Sunday 24 November, 10am-4pm

Wanting new ideas for the perfect present? At Knightshayes’ Taste of Christmas Fair, you'll find small brewers and vineyards, selling by the glass and bottle, and many stalls selling locally sourced foods and edible gifts. So not only can you pick up the perfect gift, you can make sure you have exactly the right dishes and drinks for all your Christmas celebrations.

Saltram Christmas craft and food fair

Wiltshire

Avebury’s music, lights and merriment

Saturday 7 December, 4-6pm

Why not begin your Christmas festivities at this evening event in Avebury? Soak up the atmosphere by listening to traditional carols played by the Devizes Town Band, whilst enjoying a delicious festive treat from the newly opened Circles Café. In the barn you'll find a range of gift stalls to browse and the National Trust shop will be open late, where you can take part in some liqueur tasting. There's wooden reindeer-making for children happening, and free entry to the Barn gallery of the museum.
